The
Japanese Empire colonized the Korean Peninsula
for 35 years until the war ended in 1945.  This medal was awarded from 1912 to those that were directly involved in the annexation,those who supported it and also those who contributed to Japan-Korea relations.  It was also awarded to Koreans who were serving in government at the time of annexation.  Unlike the earlier commemorative medals it was also awarded posthumously.
VERY SCARCE.  This is one of the most beautiful Japanese commemorative medals and is hard to find.  VERY CLEAN silk ribbon and medal face.
The eyelet has been repaired in the past with black thread.
