    Description

This miniature personal French antique benitier or holy water font is made of glazed white French porcelain
and dates from the 19th century.
    The Virgin Mary is sheltered
    inside
    a floral decorated niche with
a cross at the top and a
    shell shaped little cup
    for holding
    blessed
    holy water at the base.
The back of the niche has an arched opening
    to create
    a silhouette of the Virgin.
She is done in bisque (unglazed) porcelain,
    standing with outstretched arms.
    The niche is ringed with
    porcelain
flowers which have lost most of their color and gilt detail.
The decorative leaves at the top
still have traces of the original green paint.
There are also traces of gilt detail along the top and bottom
    edges of the font.
The porcelain is in excellent condition, with no flea bites, chips or cracks.
    There is a barely
    discernible
    mark
beneath the glaze on the bottom that I attempted to photograph which appears to be "185".
    Size:  Approx. 4"H x 2-1'2" W x 2"D
I ship only within the lower 48 states, no shipping to Alaska & Hawaii.
